There is powerful energy in our queer pride, sexuality and gender diversity that can support healing for those who have experienced sexual trauma. Impacts of sexual trauma are not a lifelong sentence, nor is it your fault, nor is it what defines you. Transforming experiences is more than possible. Hope abounds and liberation awaits.
This session is a dynamic workshop* that focuses on approaches to healing, transformation and empowerment. All are welcome.
It will cover:
Reframing our understanding of triggers and how we can use them to enable healing
How reclaiming queer pride and queerness can transform shame
Tapping into our agency and choice to experience our ‘powerful-self'
Using the wisdom of the body to create safety and celebrate all the wonderful queer parts of ourselves
Community of Rural LGBTIQA+ Practice Workshop
Calling all regional, rural and remote LGBTIQA+ people, allies and curious others. This is a unique opportunity for us to meet, gather and share your experiences of what’s working, what’s not and what could be in communities outside the big smoke. Since 2013, Rural Pride Australia, formerly NICHE Australia, has been partnering with LGBTIQA+ people in regional, rural and remote communities to make them safer, more supportive, welcoming and inclusive, including in Victoria, Tasmania, Western Australia and Queensland. Find out what’s happening, what’s not and what we could do collectively – how we can be better together. Since 2016, Rural Pride Australia has partnered the Commissioners for LGBTIQ+ Communities and the Victorian State Government to deliver the LGBTIQ Equality Roadshow, Regional Community of LGBTIQ Practice gatherings and the Rainbow Ready roadmap.
This resource is an LGBTIQ+ inclusion settings guide developed for Victorian regional and rural communities, based on real-world, everyday experiences of LGBTIQ+ people and mainstream settings and spaces. The Rainbow Ready roadmap was a response to calls from communities for a resource that centred their experiences and needs. Since 2016, Rural Pride Australia, formerly NICHE Australia, has partnered the Commissioners for LGBTIQ+ Communities and the Victorian State Government to deliver the LGBTIQ Equality Roadshow, Regional Community of LGBTIQ Practice gatherings and the Rainbow Ready roadmap.
